What's your background Michael?

I am 30 and have been studying salsa dance for fifteen years and have been teaching contemporary Cuban-style salsa dance as a hobby for six years. During my studies in dance I became mesmerized by the power of eye contact to make or break the connection on the dance floor.

I came to view eye contact as one of the single most important—and most often neglected—factors in partner dance, and taught myself the art of eye contact through my dancing.

I was born in San Francisco and graduated from Brown University in 1999 with an honors degree in International Relations. After some time living in New York and Buenos Aires, I have settled back into my hometown of San Francisco, where I live in the vibrant Mission District.

Who goes to Eye Gazing Parties?

Accomplished, ambitious, edgy, attractive, creative, intriguing, outgoing, confident and vibrant singles in their 20s-40s who want to have a fun time quickly establishing amazing connections with each other.

Why eye contact?

Eye contact is, hands down and lashes up, the single best way to establish a meaningful connection with a new person in a short amount of time. It gets quickly past the social roles that we often put up in interacting with one another which allows a quick penetration into a deeper layer of who we are as people which then allows us to feel more seen, understood, and open to each other.

Is this a New Age, woo-woo thing?

New Age or not, all I know is eye gazing works to connect people deeply. So does it matter if eye gazing if woo-woo if you have an amazing time with sexy attractive men and women, get their numbers, and have great dates?

How many people will I get to eye gaze with?

Each eye gazing session will be 2 minutes each for 10 minutes and there will be 4 sessions throughout the night. This means that you will be able to gaze into 20 people's eyes. There are also plenty of mingling sessions in between the eye gazing sessions so that you will have time to exchange information and meet everyone in the party who you didn't gaze with.

Two minutes of direct eye contact with a complete stranger. Isn't that really intense?

Yes. In fact, it will be much more intense than questions like “Where do you work?” and “Where are you from?” That's the whole point. So much singles chatter induces boredom and superficial interactions so it is refreshing to jolt people even briefly out of their patterned façades and into being present with another beautiful being in the moment. Eye Gazing Parties exist to bring something fresh, frisky and risky into the singles scene.

Why are you doing this?

To have fun, to spread my love of eye contact, to bring people together, to help people form meaningful connections and maybe even find their match, and to meet tons of cool people.

What is your vision for Eye Gazing Parties?

Neo is our new CEO for Eye Gazing Parties, and together our vision is to spread eye gazing parties to at least 15 States in the US, and have at least 50 hosts for the Eye Gazing Parties so that people can regularly access this amazing way to connect and meet singles around the country.
